It might sound too simple to be true, but sleep quality makes a huge difference when it comes to our ability to be at our best throughout the day. This affects the way we feel about ourselves, which ultimately influences our self-confidence.

Better sleep means more energy throughout the day. More energy means being more engaged and focused, which helps improve performance in various aspects of life. In a study published in 2017 , subjects undergoing sleep deprivation were rated as less attractive and less healthy looking than those who were not. It might sound obvious to some folks, but others might be surprised to learn how much sleep influences the way they look. If your goal is to look in the mirror and like what’s looking back, it starts with getting good sleep on a regular basis. A lot goes into self-confidence. While it’s not the only factor in determining whether you’re feeling good about yourself, sleep could be considered the secret ingredient in your attempt to boost self-confidence. Optimizing your sleep environment and consulting with your physician to address potential causes of insomnia are great places to start.
