Inspiring words for New Year and beyond

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing Something.”

― Neil Gaiman

“New Year – a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story ? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours.”

― Alex Morritt

“The road ahead is not some predetermined path that I am forced to trod, but it is a rich byway that I can help create.”

― Craig D. Lounsbrough

“You are the World” by Karl Perera

Helpless is the feeling
But you are not helpless
You are priceless

Don’t be like the world
Guided by Money
Every evil and selfishness comes from this
War and death for money
Leaders speak good words but kill in our name

Let your heart be guided by LOVE
Love cannot hurt anyone
Love cannot kill anyone
Love protects and love provides
Love brings all people together
Love respects others no matter what nationality, status, religion or race.

Before deciding what is right, just ask yourself is the motivation Love?
If you love yourself you do what is best for YOU, you take care, you respect yourself and you MUST because if you do not how can you LOVE others?

Where is the world going?
Is LOVE taking us forward into the future or is it MONEY?

Love cannot hurt anyone
Love cannot kill anyone
Love protects and love provides
Love brings all people together
Love respects others no matter what nationality, status, religion or race

Guns kill
Wars destroy lives
All for profit
Innocent victims do not die from LOVE

I long for a world motivated by LOVE not MONEY, do you?

So start with who you are and what you believe.
Do you defend those actions which come from LOVE?
Or do you make excuses for the necessity of the opposite?

Start with you, the priceless and wonderful person inside and change the world with values and actions which come from

Hope for the Future

A simple message goes with this video:

Together we are stronger. Life should be about helping others to be the best they can and by doing so we become better people ourselves. When there is so much bad news and so much evil in the world the only thing we can each do is to promote good and show love for others wherever they come from. These two children are evidence that we are all the same and that our common bond is love. Let no one break that, not nationalists, not governments, not religious fanatics, no-one. Be strong, be wonderful, help others and love all people and all races and be tolerant of different cultures, different beliefs and embrace all of humanity. Children like these are the future of the world.

“Unknown” by Daniel Perera:

Like a thunderstorm on the eve of an ever so sunny day
A death that strikes on the happiest day of your life
Unexpected. Inexplicable. Destructive.

A product of our own imagination, misguided
A swing so swift and subtle you’d never know you’ve been struck in the first place
And all you’re left with are scars.

Scars that appear to have come from nowhere,
Scars that tie you down and pull you away from your dreams.

You feel alone,
As if no one or nothing can help you find the answers.

Where do you go from there?

Reach out, reconnect with the universe.
The world has so much to offer.

The answers are all around us,
We just need to know where to look.

Seek help.

We’re all warriors, battling against the challenges of life
Sometimes we just need someone to give us a hand,
A sympathetic ear.

Perhaps some things stay the same, but we grow stronger every day
We learn to adapt, we learn to survive
We’re here, fighting, still standing strong

And you know what, that in itself is worth celebrating.
Each and every single day.

“Untitled” by Sun (Sara):

I am in this very negative head space, one I just wish I could get out of.

I know that the way I am feeling and thinking is part of something that will only take me a step further to the person I’m meant to be.

I really hope that day comes soon, but for right now I think I can find peace.

I can find it by just letting go, understanding that all of this crap today, won’t matter tomorrow.

“C’est la vie” (this is life). I mean, there’s only so much of yourself you can give, and life is so short.

What do I want to do? Who do I want to be?

I don’t know, I do know I’m done being stuck and I’m done waiting.

“We are who we are because of our choices” by Gloria N.

We can choose to moan, groan, whine, ignore or even laugh about the most difficult circumstances.

I have chosen to be bigger than my family’s rejection, the most hurting being that from my mother.

I am also bigger than the rape experience I had at 18 years and the financial dilemmas that threaten to drown me.

I may be broke, not beautiful enough ( plastic beautiful ), not successful career wise at the moment but hey, I consider myself worth a million bucks.

I am God’s most perfect masterpiece ad I am headed for greatness!!!!

Thanks for the motivation. I can stand tall today and u have all the credit!!! I have come a long way thanks to your weekly mails.

I hope you can touch more lives as tons of people struggle with confidence, rejection  and a host of other defeating emotions.

  9. stephen Mwatha Says:

Yes, this was really moving. I have shared it with my children, family members and friends. My hope is that they will reflect on it and change their perspective on the need for unity than division. There is war in our neighboring Country, Sudan because citizens there do not value the need for working together. Communities there think they will advance faster individually rather than collectively. May God help us to see the reality that we benefit more working together than individually.

  10. Silvana Says:

Yes – You raise me up to more than I can be. A beautiful and inspiring song.

Togetherness can strengthen us in times of trouble. Even when all other things fail and dissapoint us, God will not let us down.

  11. Rilwan Says:

I did not expect anything less. Like many people,I relate well with this universal message. I hope everyone that reads is able to apply it in his/her immediate environment immediately, with that we can change the world if not the bigger world;the world around us after all they say drops of water make a mighty ocean. Let’s spread love and the world will change.

  13. Bini Masego Nkgweng Says:

    Dear Karl Perera.

I really value you in a sense that you speak the truth the way it is at the very moment someone is really feeling as if you were sent to deliver the the very soothing message needed for someone to feel better, see the world with a naked third eye.

You are very inspirational and I love your poem about “You Are The World”. It teaches us about Love, a feeling so powerful it can recreate the world the way it was before war, uncertainty, fear and the need to have power, money and respect.

I learn that “money is the root of all evil”, but love is the mender of all hapiness.

    Thank you so much <3

    You are great.

I just know that everytime I am going through something you appear and me make think about my self esteem and who is dieing to get out. I have always look for acceptance, giver, pleaser and judge myself to be a bad person. I work hard at everything and take abuse as a daily part of my life. Your self esteem writing, poems and articles just keep me striving to be the better person I should become. Thank you for being there.

Beautiful inside and out. Our struggles they say make us stronger and you are a true testament to that.
