• Make sure that you put text links that are relevant to your page
  
  If your page is about computers then a link to a book about psychology or self improvement is not going to be clicked on much. Put it on a page which is connected with the subject. Visitors to your page will ignore links that do not interest them. If they came from Google looking for information about self help or confidence then they will be more likely to click your link to my "self esteem secrets book".
   
• Explain what the user will find when he clicks the link
  
  Make it clear. If it is a book about self esteem tell the reader that. Also tell the reader why he should click the link - what he will get if he buys or reads more. Persuade the reader to click.
   
• Call to action
  
  Tell the reader to read more, visit, go to or check out the link.
